For over 25 years, Milene C. Apanian has been assisting clients prevent and resolve disputes on public and private construction projects. Ms. Apanian was born into a family of contractors, engineers, developers, architects and interior designers. Growing up, visiting construction jobsites with her father, and witnessing interior design projects with her mother was a favorite pastime, where she learned the ins & outs of the construction industry and was encouraged to pursue architecture for her undergraduate studies. Upon graduating from The USC School of Architecture, she worked with architects and contractors, acting as liaison between the estimators, design professionals, contract administrators, project managers and subcontractors. Her experience in this capacity brought to light the day-to-day challenges of the industry. She also interacted with company lawyers and witnessed disputes and litigation which inspired her to pursue a law career focused on serving the construction industry.
Over the years, she has represented various owner, developer, contractor, subcontractor, and material supplier clients. She has also served as general counsel to her family’s development, architecture, and construction companies, and gained valuable insight about running a construction business.
Ms. Apanian is known for her understanding of the construction industry and her knowledge of construction law. Over time, she has gained considerable wisdom and experience in anticipating issues and helping prevent disputes on construction projects. She has an innate ability to simplify the law and make it understandable. Ms. Apanian’s clients appreciate her ability to monitor construction industry trends and anticipate changes in their legal needs and consider her as indispensable resource to their team. Ms. Apanian frequently writes articles for industry publications and presents seminars and workshops on construction related legal topics. She also enjoys mentoring the next generation of construction lawyers and is an adjunct professor of construction law and a guest lecturer on contracts.
